In this project, composite geomembrane was used as the main anti-seepage material in the construction process. By combining the impermeability of geomembrane with the protective and filtration functions of geotextile, the composite geomembrane provided excellent anti-seepage performance, durability, and adaptability to complex site conditions.
1. Superior Anti-Seepage Performance: The geomembrane layer effectively prevents water leakage, ensuring stable water retention.
2. Protection and Cushioning: The geotextile layer protects the geomembrane from mechanical damage caused by stones, uneven foundations, or external forces.
3. Filtration and Drainage: The geotextile component allows water to pass while preventing soil particle migration, thus maintaining stability of the soil structure.
4. Durability: With strong resistance to UV radiation, corrosion, and aging, composite geomembrane ensures long-term performance.
5. Cost-Effectiveness: Reduces the frequency of repairs and prolongs service life, thereby lowering maintenance costs.
1. Base Preparation: Remove debris, roots, and sharp objects from the foundation. Compact and level the surface to ensure stability.
2. Laying the Composite Geomembrane: Place the composite geomembrane rolls carefully from top to bottom along the slope. Overlap adjacent sheets by 15–20 cm.
3. Seam Welding: Use hot wedge welding or extrusion welding to join overlaps. Double seam welding with a test channel is recommended for quality control.
4. Anchoring: Anchor edges into trenches or secure with pressure plates at the top of slopes. Ensure that the membrane remains tensioned to prevent slippage.
5. Inspection and Repair: Perform leak detection (air pressure or vacuum testing) on welds. Immediately repair damaged or weak areas to ensure continuity.
After installation, the composite geomembrane system significantly reduced seepage and improved structural stability. The combination of geotextile and geomembrane not only ensured long-term anti-seepage performance but also provided protection and filtration functions. The project demonstrated excellent durability, environmental benefits, and cost efficiency, making it suitable for reservoirs, landfills, ponds, and various water conservation projects.
